About Us
When I go to start my day as a Principle in a Government School, we are met with children in the streets of Tajabad playing. Meanwhile other children are on their way to school, wearing clean uniforms and carrying school bags on their backs.
One day we asked one of the children: “Baiti, why aren’t you going to school?”
She replied “There is no Government school in Tajabad or in the nearby area to accommodate an orphan’s education, and I don’t have a father to pay for my fee in private school”
That was the catalyst, the moment when we decided to open a free-education school in Tajabad for poor and orphan children.
Tajabad is a newly developed housing area between Hayatabad and Sufad Dhere where there aren’t any government Primary, Middle or High schools within 3-5 kilometres. Most people within this area are poor labour workers or small shopkeepers. This area also accommodates Afghan refugees.

We rented a house to start a free school for this initiative. Almaarif Education System was the name we chose for this school. Our motto is: “NO CHILD SHOULD BE LEFT BEHIND”
Free uniform has also been provided to the children which consists of a green checkered shirt, black trousers and black shoes for boys. Green checkered kameez with white shalwar and black shoes for girls.

Admission of students commenced and we started receiving very excited children to start their journey of education with us. The opening ceremony took place by the local MPA Haji Fazal Elahi PK 6 and 40 students were enrolled.
Children are provided with a range of free snacks for them in their break time, some of it includes: fruit juices, sandwiches, samosa and fruit to help them get through a busy school day.
April 2015
In April 2015 a class for Nursery Playgroup and KG were launched. We don’t take a fee from students; they have been provided with free bags, free books, free exercise books and all the stationary a child would need to start their school life.
This is just the beginning of the journey and we would like Al Maarif to grow where there is no child left without an education. Children are our future and they deserve to be educated. Al Maarif is facilitating this for the children of Tajabad.
