Madrassah
Almaarif opened its Madrasah in October 2015 to provide free Quranic education for girls from all socio-economic backgrounds.
This was set up initially with the kind donations from High Wycombe, United Kingdom. Unlike the school, the madrasah does not have an entry eligibility criteria; neither does it have an age restriction. Currently there are approximately 90 students (adults and children) attending and are taught by 3 fully qualified female teachers.
Subjects Taught
Tajweed
Tajweed ( ﺗﺠﻮﻳﺪ ) is an Arabic word meaning correct pronunciation during recitation. It is a set of rules which dictate how the Qur’an should be read. It comes from the root word ‘ja-wa-da’ meaning to make well, make better or improve.
Ibn Mas`ud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to me:
“Whoever recites a letter from the Book of Allah, he will be credited with a good deed, and a good deed gets a ten-fold reward. I do not say that Alif-Lam-Mim is one letter, but Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter and Mim is a letter.” [At-Tirmidhi]
Tafsir
The word ‘tafsir’ comes from ‘fassara’, which means, ‘to explain, to expound, to elucidate, to interpret.’ The word tafsir is the verbal noun of ‘fassara’, and means ‘the explanation or interpretation of something.’
Nazra-e -Quran
Nazra is to read the Holy Quran verbally, without translation and memorisation.
